NOC Technician duties include but are not limited to:
  • Ability to perform intermediate and advanced troubleshooting of issues.
  • Work directly with customers addressing questions and concerns of services provided.
  • Work with both internal field technicians as well as carrier field technicians to troubleshoot premises issues.
  • Configure core devices and customer premises devices for new services or updates to existing customers.
  • Update database and monitoring platform with new installation information.
  • Assist with other departments with customer questions, voice troubleshooting, testing, or changes to services provided.
  • Troubleshoot routing and interface issues in the networking core including multilink T1 and BGP.
  • Troubleshoot and program managed firewall services, including UTM services and NAT/PAT rules.
  • Rotating on call shifts, weekend and evening work.
  • Must have excellent communication skills and ability to work within a team
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Education:  High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Experience:  Customer Service experience working in the telecommunications field a plus
  • Other:  Exceptional communication skills (verbal & written)
  • Advanced knowledge & experience with Cisco IOS. Experience with Fortinet OS is preferred.
  • Knowledge of and hands-on working experience with switches, routers, Ethernet devices, Firewall, and other hardware.
  • In depth knowledge of VLANs, Trunk and Access ports.
  • Working knowledge of circuit types, T1, DSL, EOC, Fiber, etc.
  • Experience with supporting a MPLS network with BGP.
  • Thorough knowledge of TCP/IP and related routing protocols with special focus on BGP.
  • Experience with VoIP solutions.
  • Must be proficient in defining/troubleshooting IPs, firewall rules, equipment configurations, and routing.
  • Working knowledge of DNS and DHCP
  • The ability to monitor network performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed.
  • Create and maintain documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, etc.
  • Must be flexible with extended hours and possible shift changes to cover for vacation/sick days.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including ability to interact professionally with executives, customers, vendors and department staff.
  • Ability to coordinate solutions with customers and provide support for testing, design and implementation issues.
  • Ability to handle high pressure situations. Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment
