NetFortris is seeking an experienced Linux Systems Engineer to join our Infrastructure Operations team in deploying, commissioning, operating, maintaining and decommissioning Linux systems. The Linux Systems Engineer will be responsible for implementing creative, robust solutions and troubleshooting faults to optimize infrastructure operations, maintain customer satisfaction levels and minimize systems downtime. This role will take an active role in the documentation of all systems managed by Infrastructure Operations.

Requirements:
  • 4+ years of full-time experience administering Red Hat Linux / CentOS based systems, ideally in a 24x7 production environment with minimal supervision, to include: patching, package management, performance tuning, networking, scripting and security
  • Comprehensive understanding of network fault tolerance / load balancing / distributed computing / high-availability concepts and best practices
  • Demonstrated ability to create technical documentation that is clearly written, well organized, well structured, and accurate
  • Will be required to adhere to strict change management policies and procedures
  • Work schedule is a 40-hour work week of five 8-hour work days with breaks for lunch on site at our corporate office or at our downtown Los Angeles data center (various shift schedules are available)
  • Must be able to perform after hours software and hardware upgrades during scheduled maintenance windows and during outage situations
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds in support of hardware installations
  • Must be able to travel up to 10% for installation support in remote locations
  • Possess an active Linux Foundation Certified Engineer (LFCE), Linux Professional Institute LPIC-2 Certified Linux Engineer or RedHat Certified System Engineer (RHCE) certification or willing to acquire one within 6 months of start date.  Progress towards certification will be reviewed every 45 days
  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related technical field, or 5 - 6 years of full-time systems administration experience in lieu of degree.

Desired Additional Skills:
  • Experience with hypervisor solutions, such as VMware, RHEV and Proxmox
  • Disaster Recovery Best Practices - backup and archiving
  • Experience with Cisco UCS, NAS and SAN administration experience (NetApp, Nimble)
  • Experience with automation frameworks (Chef, Salt, Ansible, Puppet)
  • Proficiency in scripting, specifically shell scripting in Bash, optionally Python or Perl
  • Proficiency in enterprise level administration of common critical services such as DNS, NFS, SendMail and LDAP
  • Familiar with version control systems such as Git, SVN (Subversion), etc.
  • Experience with monitoring tools such as Nagios, Munin, Graphite and Grafana
  • Fundamental database administration skills, including installation, upgrade and maintenance (MySQL, Percona, Couchbase, Redis)
  • Possess the ability to effectively interact with other personnel on technical matters often requiring coordination between internal organizations and external vendors or consultants, excellent communication and diplomatic skills
